The 8th graders had a day of reflections on their time spent building pilina between ʻāina and kanaka. Kumu from Kauluakalana said, "I am convinced that these keiki are our guides to a hopeful future. They know when to hana and when to gather their thoughts to blow us away. I canʻt wait to see the future that is in store for these keiki as they take their leap into High School!"
Here are a few reflections from the haumana:
"I remember the day that we weeded out the auwai and had to learn to be in lōkahi by working together to get the task finished. It was really fun!" -Leinaʻala
"I remember the day that we had to harvest lau and cook and we got to see which different parts of hana we each thrived in." -Mailani
"I loved the day that we got to eat what is grown here, the food was so good!" -Keahi
"I really liked learning all of the moʻolelo of Ulupō, itʻs a special place." -Matthew
We are so proud to see how much our haumana have grown over the years and mahalo the kumu at Kauluakalana for being a part of their journey!
