Aloha Kākou,
On Thursday April 24th we celebrated our founding ʻohana with an ono dinner and opportunity to begin building our new Mālama Honua ʻOhana. It was a beautiful evening where we enjoyed meeting new people and catching up with old friends, where our keiki learned with our kumu about how to be as strong as the opihi, and an opportunity where we engaged in powerful conversation building relationships around our vision for the future of Mālama Honua PCS. Our families were able to interact with community leaders, Mālama Honua PCS Board members, and each other. We look forward to continuing our work in further developing our relationships and getting together as we prepare for the ʻlaunchʻ of our new school.
Our Kumu
We are excited to announce the hiring of our two kumu. We were honored by the high caliber of teacher who applied for our kumu positions. The interview committee feels confident that we have found two kumu who will help ensure not only the success of opening the school, but believe that these kumu will help to facilitate the long term success of Mālma Honua PCS. Our kumu are highly qualified elementary kumu who are not only passionate about creating a rich Hawaiian culture, place base learning experiences for our keiki, but are experienced kumu who understand how to support all keiki to accomplish and excel beyond grade level expectations. I am honored to introduce our two lead kumu- Jessica Kaakua and Rachael Hussey.
A Hui Hou,
Denise
