We have so much to celebrate and would like to take a moment to share our appreciation for all the support from the community.
Mahalo to the Queen Liliʻuokalani Childrens Center for having us at their family evening event focused on 'imi 'ike. We really enjoyed sharing the evening with such a warm, thoughtful and energetic community. While parents stayed with me in the hālau to learn about the school, we had kumu leading a constellation art activity for the younger ones, and for the middles and high schoolers, PVS led them in an activity creating a star compass on the lawn.
Mahalo to the neighborhood board and St Matthewʻs Episcopal Church congregation. We are exploring the possibility of renting space from St. Matthews for our start up years. As a part of the process we canvassed the neighborhood and received overwhelming support and enthusiasm for the school. We returned to the neighborhood board to share an update and request their approval of this collaboration. The neighborhood boardʻs unanimous vote is allowing us to move forward with requesting for a permit. Mahalo to the many community members who came out to support us with testimony and stories. We look forward to working with the neighborhood to ensure we are moving forward in a pono way. We are planning a neighborhood meeting at the church to talk story and plan. Date and time for the meeting will be coming out soon!
Mahalo to Unko Roy and Aloha Care for inviting us to participate in the planning of the Waimānalo healthy keiki art calendar. Although we do not have our keiki in school yet, we are excited to be able to participate in the planning of a few of the lessons that the PVS crew members will be leading around healthy choices.
Mahalo to those families who have already submitted their enrollment application. Remember the deadline to be a founding parent of Mālama Honua is March 31st. We will be holding a founding family meeting in mid to late April. Will be in touch with greater detail soon.
